HIV/AIDS and TB services – as a component for public health system development in Ukraine

March, 28-30 2016 in Kyiv regional centers for prevention and control of AIDS and TB service joined the seminar-meeting «The current state of HIV/AIDS and TB services – as a component for public health system development in Ukraine".

Representatives from the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, UCDC, head doctors and specialists from AIDS and TB services, international organizations (UNAIDS office in Ukraine, USAID project «HIV reform in action” and AHF) discussed main gaps and opportunities to achieve European and global targets on combating HIV/AIDS and tuberculosis, and developed the action plan for 2016.

During the seminar-meeting participants were informed about the global place of Ukraine in fighting TB and HIV epidemics, overviewed the tasks and activities of the National Program on Combating HIV/AIDS in 2014-2018 and discussed the advantages, disadvantages and prospects of models of integrated services (including mobile clinics). Important topics of discussion were the development of a sustainable model of services to key populations and the development of public health system which is the basis of the National Strategy for health reform in Ukraine for 2015-2020.
