Palliative patients - patients of all ages suffering from malignant neoplasms in III-IV stage disease, HIV / AIDS, birth defects, cardiovascular, neurological, respiratory, atrophic, degenerative and other progressive disease and posttraumatic state, cannot be cured by modern and affordable methods and means and are accompanied by severe pain symptoms, severe disorders of life, need skilled care, care, psychological, social, spiritual and moral support in the terminal stage of the disease or given a limited prognosis, a questionable prognosis recovery or improvement or complete functional recovery of livelihoods.
Palliative care
Palliative care - a comprehensive approach, which aims to ensure the best possible quality of life palliative patients and their families through the prevention and relief of suffering through early detection and accurate diagnosis of symptoms of pain and frustration of life, conduct adequate therapeutic measures, symptomatic (adjuvant) therapy and care, psychological, social, spiritual and moral support, regardless of the disease, age, social status, ethnicity, religious or political beliefs, place of residence, etc. of the patient. Palliative care is based on a comprehensive assessment of the physical condition of interdisciplinary patient's degree of pain and frustration of life functions, psycho-emotional, cognitive and cultural features, maximum and comprehensive consideration of the needs and wishes of the patient and his family, prediction of disease progression and life expectancy. Palliative care begins from the moment of diagnosis of incurable progressive disease and limited prognosis and continues to the end of the period of mourning family.
Primary palliative care - Palliative care is provided palliative patients at the primary level provision of medical care in outpatient conditions at home or general practitioners, family medicine, district doctors and medical specialists clinics.
General palliative care - Palliative care is provided to patients palliative medical specialists according to their specialization outpatient and inpatient health care facilities of the second and third level.
Specialized palliative care - a comprehensive multidisciplinary medical-social and psychological assistance provided palliative patients in health care special type of "Hospice" in the offices and houses of palliative care inpatient medical institutions doctors and nursing professionals who have received special training in palliative and hospice care, and home professionals specialized multidisciplinary teams of mobile palliative care involving medical psychologists, social workers and other professionals as needed, and volunteers, guardians or close relatives of the patient.
Palliative medicine
Palliative medicine - a branch of scientific medicine and public health, whose main task is to ensure the highest possible quality of life of palliative care patients through the prevention and relief of suffering, the effective application of adequate anesthesia, drug therapy, surgery and other treatments, qualified health care conditions when the possibility of specialized treatment primary disease or are limited in terms of modern scientific ideas, futile.
Limited life prognosis - scientifically justified assumption that the life expectancy of patients with typical disease limited to 12 months.
Hospice
Hospice - a healthcare institution a special type of professionals who have received special training and provide palliative care to patients and their families, carrying out organizational and technical advice and coordination of primary, general and specialized palliative care in assigned territory (Ukrainian, regional, municipal, regional / inter-district) and other functions and tasks defined "Regulations on Health specialized institution of a special type ‘Hospice.’
Hospice care is part of palliative care provided to palliative patients, primarily in the terminal stages of the disease and their family specialists who have received special training in palliative and hospice care.
Hospice Medicine
Hospice care - a component of palliative medicine, whose main task is to provide the best possible quality of life palliative patients in the terminal period of disease progression by early diagnosis of pain and frustration of life, prevent and alleviate the suffering of adjuvant methods, qualified health care professionals who received training in palliative and hospice care.
